Smart Shopping for Smart Meals

Canadian Dieticians have published a series of tools and tips to help plan and shop for nutritious meals, while limiting the time you spend planning your menus.

They recommend:

  • Using Canada’s Food Guide to help you plan your meals. It has specific advice for how much food you should eat based on your age and sex. It can help you plan your meals and make sure you get foods from all four food groups.
  • My Menu Planner, based on Canada’s Food Guide, you can have a weekly menu plan to post on your fridge. It includes tips for creating a shopping list.
  • Maintain a shopping list, and stock your kitchen with healthy foods, to make it easier to prepare quick and nutritious meals.
  • Try to organize your shopping list in the same way that the store is laid out to save time and energy.
